About Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is Uganda's smallest national park, covering just 33.7 square kilometers, but it packs a powerful punch with its unique combination of mountain gorillas and extinct volcanoes. The park is part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area shared with Rwanda and DR Congo.
The park is home to one habituated gorilla family and offers gorilla trekking experiences that are often less crowded than those in Bwindi. The three extinct volcanoes - Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo - provide excellent hiking opportunities with stunning views across three countries.
Beyond gorillas, visitors can track golden monkeys, hike to the peaks, and experience the rich culture of the local Batwa people.
