Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & Preparation
Arrive at Kasese and transfer to mountain base. Equipment check and briefing. Acclimatization walk and overnight at base camp.
Day 2 - Start of Trek
Begin trek from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut (2,651m). Trek through montane forest with views of the peaks.
Day 3 - John Matte Hut
Trek to John Matte Hut (3,505m) through bamboo and heather zones. Spectacular views of the peaks.
Day 4 - Bujuku Hut
Continue to Bujuku Hut (3,962m) through the Afro-alpine zone with giant lobelias and groundsels.
Day 5 - Elena Hut
Trek to Elena Hut (4,541m) for summit preparation. Rest and acclimatization.
Day 6 - Summit Day
Early morning summit attempt on Margherita Peak (5,109m). Return to Elena Hut for overnight.
Day 7 - Descent
Begin descent to lower huts. Overnight at John Matte Hut.
Day 8 - Return to Base
Final descent to base camp. Transfer to Kasese for departure.
