About Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park offers some of the most iconic African imagery - massive elephant herds grazing with the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. This compact park (392 square kilometers) punches well above its weight in terms of wildlife density and scenic beauty.
The park is famous for its large elephant population, which includes some of the biggest tuskers in Africa. The diverse ecosystems range from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli to wetlands fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro, acacia woodlands, and rocky thorn bush country.
Amboseli is also an important bird area with over 400 species recorded, including large flocks of flamingos when Lake Amboseli has water.
